12th May 2017 – Trevose Headland

Played on the Headland Course at Trevose, Constantine Bay, Nr. Padstow North Cornwall.

We started in bright if cool condition – little wind. Perfect for seaside golf.  But wait, clouds over the distant sea.  By the time we had sunk our putts on the 5th – which was unfortunately the hole furthest from the club-house – the wind has risen and the rain was starting to pour as only those who have spent time in the West Country will understand.  We decided to carry on and complete the round, but by the 7th hole – despite the fact that I had just unleashed a 240/250 yard drive straight down the middle of the fairway (incidentally with Madeleine not far behind with the slight advantage of the Ladies Tee) we decided to call it a day.

Despite the fact that we had hired a buggy for the occasion, by the time we had completed the 800 odd yards back to the club-house we were well-and-truly soaked and feeling very sorry for ourselves.  Match Abandoned!
